2V6
ANNISTON, AL.
Throughout the years, groups such as the 5 Satins, the Temptations, the Ojays, recent groups like Boys II Men and Jagged Edge, duos like Sam & Dave, K-Ci and Jo-Jo have established a style of music unprecedented among all other styles. This experience has been more recently represented by the up and coming vocal group 2V6.
2V6 (256), consists of two Alabama young men-- Shakrian (Kerry) and Ca$$anova (Clifford) whose style and drive shines brightly on every person they meet. Although this group is an R&B group, their individual tastes in music are extremely diverse; ranging from pop to neo-soul, doo-wop to reggae, hip-hop to rock guitar riffs. They also play drums and saxophone.Their image and music touches on every facet of our society, from the smooth R&B love song to the driving upbeat Hip Hop mix. 2V6 is a clique that's hard to playa-hate. Even their acappella rendition of the National Anthem has gotten them standing ovations.
Their brief record of performances is impressive. Originally formed as a 4 man group Shakerian and Ca$$onova have been together for 4 years and have been working dilligently for the common goal of being successful in the ever-changing business of music. Their early performance activities ranges from winning the 2000 Juneteenth Heritage Festival talent show in their hometown, and opening act for area concerts with R&B group Silk and Hip Hop duo Dirty in the summer of 2001, performance for the Govenor of Alabama at a local Town Hall meeting, appearances at Crow's Nest and 20 Grand in Atlanta, singing the National Anthem at high school and college athletic events, a 3-day/3-city show with the Country Grammer Comedy Tour in November 2001, the LoMo Magazine Show and as kick off act for the Rhyme or Die Tour show at the High Note Lounge in Birmingham in December 2001.
They appeared in 2002 at the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee Festival, University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) Springfest, Juneteenth Heritage Festival and won the Open Mic Check in July held at Club 300 in Anniston, Al. which garnered them a showcase spot at the 2002 Birmingham Heritage Festival in August. Following that appearance 2V6 performed at the Tampax Total You Tour Talent Expo at the World Congress Center and at the Soul Food and Music Festival both held in Atlanta in September and back in Alabama at the Hobson City "City Bling 2002". Most recently, they won another Open Mic event held at Studio 231 in Gadsden, Al. which put them up as an opening act during the T.I. concert at the club and were also booked for the "Southern Playaz Ball" concert held at Studio 231 on Thanksgiving Night as one of the featured acts.
2V6 have been listed in the 2002 "Dirty 30 Awards" by Birmingham entertainment journalist Walt Dirty as up and coming talent to watch published in LoMo Magazine. They performed at the LoMo Dirty 30 Awards show December 29th, 2002.
2V6 started off 2003 by appearing at the M. L. King Celebration in Atlanta at the Sweet Auburn Community where Dr. King grew up and preached. They also performed as a featured guest act at the New Artist Entertainment Road to Hollywood Talent contest at Carrollton High in Carrollton, Ga. on January 25th. And set it off at Talladega College Springfest in April. In between 2V6 makes appearances at high school pep rallys.
2V6 adds a little spice to their shows by often selecting a young lady from the audience whom they serenade and dance with. Their sound has been described as "sexolicious" by one woman. 2V6 was the special male guest in the 3-day, 3-city
"Diamond Divas & Ghetto Queens" mini-tour May 8-10th., 2003. Their summer performance activities were highlighted by appearances on the main stage at the 11th Annual Juneteenth Heritage Festival in Anniston in June, Al., the Birmingham Heritage Festival (Hip Hop stage) in August, and a performance at the Feed the Homeless concert sponsored by Caustic Entertainment held at Angie Griffin's Hip Hop Cafe show at the Somber Reptile/Cajun Kitchen event hall in Atlanta in September. They performed at the Hip Hop for Christmas Charity show in December at Studio 231 in Gadsden, Al., which raised food and cash donations for a local Boys & Girls Club member family in need.
Appealing to a variety of audiences, 2V6 was the half-time entertainment for the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Basketball Tournament (Round One) hosted by the Lady Gamecocks of Jacksonville State University on March 2, 2004 and are one of the two musical opening acts for the DVUS Entertainment's Black Chippendale Dancers Show at Club Studio 231 in Gadsden, AL. on March 6th.
They have organized 2V6 Entertainment which brings into play other singers and rap talent and recording services. They issued "The Official Street Album" as an underground project to continue building their fan base featuring their already popular songs such as "Cowboys" and "So Fine" and are working on another project with new creations such as "Sorry" and "After the Show" and some Gospel mixes also. They do all of their background vocals also so every song you hear is pure 2V6. They sing, they dance, they romance. That's a good show.
